September 2016: PhD to investigate whether neutrophil extracellular traps are pro-inflammatory in cystic fibrosis The CIR would like to welcome Sheonagh Law who will be undertaking a PhD to investigate whether neutrophil extracellular traps are pro-inflammatory in cystic fibrosis. She will be performing animal and human experiments to investigate whether NETs cause inflammation, specifically focussing on the neutrophil-macrophage interaction in cystic fibrosis. Sheonagh will be working with Dr Robert Gray and Dr Gareth Hardisty, and her PhD has been funded by a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship grant.
