Donald Davidson was selected for the 2006 Royal Society MP Scientist Pairing Scheme, established as part of the Science in Society programme, to build bridges between scientific research workers and members of the UK parliament.

Donald shadowed John Barrett (MP for Edinburgh West) at Westminster and his constituency for a week, attended sessions of the Science and Technology Committees and hosted Mr Barrett at the Centre for Inflammation Research.
