UKRI’s Future Leaders Fellowships provide researchers and innovators with long-term support and training to develop ambitious, transformative ideas.

The programme supports the research and innovation leaders of the future to transcend disciplinary and sector boundaries, bridging the gap between academia and business.

Dr Akram is among 68 researchers awarded the fellowship this month, each with a share of  £108million for their work.

I am humbled to receive this FLF award, which allows me to focus on my research vision of improving the pathway for patients with suspected cancer using new imaging techniques. This FLF also allows me to build a team working together in this field, and to have meaningful clinical and scientific impact.
