June 2016: British Empire Medal awarded for services to medical research Dr Sharon Hannah was awarded a British Empire Medal "For services to medical research" in the 2016 Birthday Honours list. The British Empire Medal is a British medal awarded for meritorious civil or military service worthy of recognition by the Crown. Since being appointed manager of the Rayne Laboratory in 1994 Sharon has worked tirelessly and very effectively for the University; as MRC/UoE CIR manager, QMRI manager, and now as University BioQuarter Campus Operations Manager. Not long ago she was also awarded the "Hawksbee Medal" of the Royal Society (London) for services in support of science. This recent recognition is richly deserved - many congratulations to Sharon!
