December 2010: Project linking academic researchers with school pupils Dr Marieke Hoeve was a presenter in‘Too hot to Handle?’, a project run by Dr Cathy Southworth (University of Edinburgh) for Glow Scotland, linking academic researchers with school pupils (P6-S3) through multi media packages in support of the new STEM Curriculum for Excellence, centring on hot topics in science. Marieke was part of Team Flu Fighters, a group of five influenza researchers of Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews University, who created videos and vidcasts about influenza disease and research, and participated in live weblinks with over 30 Scottish schools to answer pupils questions as part of a game show.
