Edinburgh International Science Festival 2018: Careers Hive

March 2018: CIR researchers take part in the Careers Hive 2018, part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival.

Careers Hive is a careers education event organised by the Edinburgh International Science Festival, aiming to give S1-S3 students a taste of what it is like to have a STEM career (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

The event included activities of different types such as hands-on and talks related to science for students and their families. This interaction encourages discussions around the opportunities one has to follow their favorite STEM subject and get a job on this and help the students build their confidence in pursuing a professional future in science.

Volunteers from all related disciplines were there to engage with the audience and give their own perspective on working for science, while doing activities.

The venue was the National Museum of Scotland, and the participants had the chance to enjoy the technology exhibits, enriching the experience and offering an interesting day out for the whole family.
