Lets talk about understanding disease

December 2014: Members of the CIR are involved in the 2014-2015 public lecture series "Lets Talk about Health"

The focus of this years series is 'Understanding Disease'. The public lectures run from December 2014 to March 2015.

Come along to hear from some of the University’s most distinguished medical researchers on the latest advancements in biomedical research.

Topics this year include how our genes may contribute to the problem of obesity, how sunshine can an improve blood pressure and how scientists are developing new treatments for critically ill patients.

 
Professor Sarah Howie and Professor Heather Cubie will present on Wednesday 10th December 2014 on
'Cervical cancer, vaccines and how to help the reproductive health of the developing world'.
 
Professor Timothy Walsh and Professor Adriano Rossi will present on Wednesday 11th February 2015 on
'Treating injured lungs by extinguishing inammation'.
 
Dr Richard Weller and Dr Darren Shaw will present on Wednesday 11 March 2015 on
The Health benefits and risks of sunshine exposure in a talk title 'Let sunshine into your heart'.
 
The QMRI Public Lecture series is sponsored by the Medical Research Council and is aimed at the general public. At each talk there will be two 20-minute presentations followed by a 20-minute question time. Coffee and tea from 4.45pm and wine will be available after each talk. All talks are held here at The Queen’s Medical Research Institute, next to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, 47 Little France Crescent, Edinburgh EH16 4TJ.
